Roger Choinski Obituary

At 11:15 a.m. on August 21, 2018 Roger, age 60, left us to journey and reside forever in Eternal Life.  He was born on May 30, 1958 to Renetta (nee Dolacinski) and Arthur.  He grew up on Milwaukee's Southside and never left.  Before his Holy Communion he was diagnosed with diabetes.  He learned all he could about the disease, attended camp and later became a camp counselor teaching other youngsters to enjoy life with the skills he shared with them.  He attended St. Helen's Grade School and Pulaski High School where he joined the Distributive Education Tract allowing him to begin working in grocery stores in the afternoon.  His chosen career path was the produce department and he became a manager.  As a kid, he loved going to "Louie's Cabin" in Eagle River every summer with the Walloch's and on the yearly family vacation and once out west.  He went to MATC and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Marketing and Finance.  Roger had many life long friends; Lennie, John, Kurt, Scott, Taco, Keith and Joe, who introduced him to "The Love of His Life", Diane Wage.  Roger and Diane were married in October 1988 at Lutheran Memorial and quickly had a family with Nicole and then Heather.  His greatest joy and accomplishments was the love he had for his wife and daughters.  Roger was thrilled to become a grandfather this June to Nora Loftus and when his daughter, Heather, their primary caregiver, graduated from Alverno College in May 2018.   Roger loved to grill out and cook.  He danced to Big Twist with pals and Maribeth at Summerfest on top of picnic tables, enjoyed summer vacations and boat rides with family and friends in Waupaca.  He was a major Badgers, Packers and Brewers fan.  Roger and Diane's home was a warm and inviting place filled with friends and two cats, Snickers and Patch.  Roger had a major stroke in August 2006 and Diane took care of him until her stroke in October 2009.  They spent the last 16 months living together in a shared room at Sunrise Care Center.

Roger is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane, his daughters, Heather and  Nicole (Tim) Loftus and their daughter, Nora, sister, Maribeth (Dick) Dettlaff and brother in law, Doug (Carol) Wage.  He is also survived by many relatives and lifelong friends and their spouses.  He will join all our parents and all who have gone before him.

Special Gratitude goes out to cousins, Karen, Dan, Carol, MB's husband, Dick and all the Sunrise Care Center Staff, especially the aides, nurses, Anna the nurse 2nd floor coordinator, Nicole the social worker and Holly the office Manager.

Roger wanted everyone to know how much he loved them.  He had great gratitude for all of his special hardworking CNA's.

Memorial Gathering, Friday, September 7 from 10:00 to 11:45 A.M. at the funeral home with Memorial Services to follow at 12:00 NOON.  Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in Roger's name can be made to Happy Endings, No Kill Cat Shelter in Milwaukee appreciated.
