David was welcomed into the arms of the lord on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at the age of 61, surrounded by his loved ones. He was deeply loved by his partner, Kathy Moss, and was a devoted father to Nathan (Brianna) Ropicky and the late Kirk Ropicky. David was a cherished brother to Pamela (Jim) Entringer, Brian (Kari) Ropicky, and Alissa Ropicky, as well as a bonus son to Steffanie (the late John Ropicky) Ropicky. He was also a proud grandpa to Kaiden Ropicky and bonus grandpa to Aidan, Addison, and Ava Moss.
David is survived by his nephews, Noah Entringer, Sean Boult, and Andrew Ropicky, his niece Bella Ropicky, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Ropicky, and his parents, John and Geraldine "Geri" Ropicky.
David’s love for the outdoors brought him immense joy, whether it was snowmobiling, working in his garden, doing yardwork, or walking his beloved dog, Stella. Known affectionately by his neighbors as "Farmer Dave," he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Though his life was cut short, he lived it fully, surrounded by those he loved and the way he wanted. Above all, he was an incredible father who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with his sons, family, and friends.
David has had a diverse and hands-on career. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) before transitioning to a career as a mechanic. Throughout the years, he's worked on everything from cars and trucks to snowmobiles, minibikes, and ski chair lifts, and at times while also managing an apartment complex. David's passion for working with his hands has driven him to embrace the challenge of fixing things and finding practical solutions.
In March 2023, David began his brave fight against brain cancer (GBM). He fought with strength and determination, but eventually, his body could no longer keep up, and we had to explore a different path. In November 2024, David moved to St. Francis Healthcare, where he received compassionate, round-the-clock care. We are deeply grateful to the wonderful staff there for treating him with dignity and respect. The team at Horizon Hospice also provided exceptional care and support during his final days, making this difficult journey easier for all of us, especially David. We are forever grateful for the love and kindness shown to him and to our family during this time.
