Geri was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on November 27, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving and devoted mother to Pamela (Jim) Entringer and David Ropicky (Kathy), and a proud and adoring Grandma and Nana to Nathan (Brianna) Ropicky, Noah Entringer, and the late Kirk Ropicky. She was also a cherished Great Grandma to Kaiden Ropicky. Geri was the dear sister of Doris (the late Gerald) Ashenbrenner and the late Annie (the late Clay) Leque. She was a special bonus mom to Kurt and Rachel Preston and the former wife and friend of the late John Ropicky. She is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Kubicki and Marcella Kubicki, as well as her best friend, Evie Preston, and many other relatives and friends.
Geri’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she adored spending time with them, often spoiling them at every opportunity. She lived a full and loving life, known for her infectious smile, sassy sense of humor, and an open heart. Geri was a true friend to many, loved by all who knew her, and always put the needs of others before her own. She was beautiful, funny, and sometimes a little stubborn, but above all, she was a wonderful mom.
Geri had a varied career, but her favorite job was working for the Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC), where she traveled and connected with people from all over the world while working in the National Tournament Division. She looked forward to reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones, and, most of all, spending time with her best friend Evie, especially during their travels to different cities. Geri and Evie shared a love of Neil Diamond, attending his concerts whenever he was in Milwaukee.
Geri lived independently for most of her life, but in October 2013, after much consideration, she moved to assisted living at Autumn Lakes (formerly Cameo Care Campus). Though initially challenging, she quickly made friends and became an active part of the community, enjoying bingo, cards, happy hours, and movie nights, always with her favorite snack, “pup corn” (as she called popcorn). She became fondly known as “The Boss Lady.” A heartfelt thank you to Lorrain Myles, Wellness Director, Annette Bohman, Administrator, and the entire staff at Autumn Lakes for their wonderful care and love for Geri.
In August 2024, Geri’s health began to decline. She fought hard to recover, but eventually, she needed more care. In November 2024, she moved to LindenGrove in New Berlin, where she received compassionate, round-the-clock care. We are deeply grateful to the amazing staff there for treating her with dignity and respect. Additionally, the team at Preceptor Hospice provided exceptional care and support during her final weeks, making this difficult journey easier for all of us, especially Geri. A special thank you to all but especially to Nurse Jesse, Aid Gladys, Social Worker Nicole, Pastor Dean, and Chaplain Rich for their dedication, comfort, and support. We are forever thankful for the love and kindness shown to Geri and to us during this time.
