Richard J Melms

Rich passed away on October 27th at home in the care of his loving family at the age of 81.  Rich attended Bay View High School where he met his future wife of 60 years.  Following high school, he served in the Air Force from 1961-1965.  Post service, he worked many years for both United Airlines and Cooper Industries.  Throughout most of his life, playing baseball and softball was his favorite pastime.  A very good player and was voted MVP many times.

Beloved husband of Mardell (Pinky) Lieber, dear father of Jennifer Trattner (David), Tracy Clayton, and Michael Melms.  Fun grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Rich was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and Karl, and survived by his brother Dr. Fredrick Melms and sisters Carolyn Ruud and Susan Melms.  Per Rich’s wishes, no service will be held.
